Nutrient credits for schemes held up on nitrogen or phosphorus
Phosphorus and nitrogen mitigation from our own constructed wetlands and land use change, secured for the lifetime of your development.
We provide quotes within a day, and if you don’t have a nutrient budget yet, we will calculate it for you.

Trusted by the developers building England’s homes, across housing, retail and commercial schemes.
Do you need nutrient credits?
Where protected habitats are already damaged by nutrient pollution, an authority cannot grant permission unless your development is nutrient neutral. Any additional load must be offset in the same catchment, or the application does not get consented.
Your scheme is in an affected catchment
Natural England has issued nutrient advice across many authorities and catchments.
Your application has stalled
Nutrient neutrality is one of the most common reasons otherwise consentable housing schemes stall.
You cannot mitigate on site
Most schemes cannot remove nutrient load within their own red line.
You need it secured properly
Mitigation must be real, additional and secured for the life of the development.
How it works
Send us your scheme details. If you already have a nutrient budget we’ll work from it, and if not, we’ll calculate it for you.
We calculate your budget
Using Natural England’s calculator for your catchment, we establish the additional load in kilograms per year.
Or we check the budget you have
We match credits in catchment
Credits only work in the catchment they were generated in, and we confirm what we hold in yours.
Catchment-matched
The agreement is executed
We complete the credit agreement and the mechanism securing the mitigation, and liaise with Natural England directly.
Natural England liaison included
You discharge and build
You receive everything your authority needs to conclude its appropriate assessment.
- Nutrient budget calculation for your scheme
- Credit allocation certificate, catchment-matched
- Executed credit agreement and legal securing mechanism
- Evidence pack supporting the appropriate assessment
- Management and monitoring arrangements for the mitigation
- Direct Natural England and authority liaison, at no extra cost
Full authority support
Catchments we serve
Credits must come from the same catchment as the development, so coverage is catchment by catchment.

- Nitrogen credits from our Chidham nutrient bank.
- Solent (East Hampshire Rivers)

- River Avon

Habitat RegulationsWho stands behind the obligation
- The land
- We own the land freehold, with no lease and no third-party landowner.
- The covenant
- A conservation covenant or planning obligation protecting each site in perpetuity, registered against the title.
- Responsible Body
- An independent Responsible Body or the local authority can step in if we ever fail to deliver.
- The endowment
- Long-term management is funded by an endowment set aside at allocation.
- Financial strength
- We have £56.5m of capital for land and habitat, and are rated Very Low Risk with an international credit score of A. That capital lets us buy land and create habitat before your programme needs it, and fund its management for the long term.
Quotes for nutrient credits
Send us the site location and a nutrient budget and we can send back a quote.
